|
Entertainment Earth, a leading online retailer of collectible action figures, toys and memorabilia, has scored a notable industry coup by securing the exclusive retail rights - on or off-line - for a variation of the forthcoming "Chiana" action figure from Sci Fi Channel's popular "Farscape" series produced by Jim Henson Television, it was announced today by Entertainment Earth co-founders Aaron and Jason Labowitz. This marks Entertainment Earth 's first such exclusive retail arrangement."Farscape," which follows astronaut John Crichton's extraordinary adventures after his Farscape One module is thrust through a wormhole and ejected on the other side of the universe, airs on Sci Fi Channel on Friday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Chiana, played by actress Gigi Edgley on the series, is one of the first "Farscape" action figures to be developed by Toy Vault, the manufacturer of Farscape action figures. The new Chiana figures will be available via Entertainment Earth in September 2000. Chiana, an impetuous young thief, is the latest addition to the spaceship Moya's fugitive crew and to the regular Farscape cast. Young, sexy, street-smart and mercurial, Chiana rebelled against the bland, mind-controlled conformity of her fellow Nebari and fled her home planet. To survive in the Uncharted Territories' roughest hellholes, she's had to lie, cheat, vamp and scam. Fortunately for her, those are her four best moves. "We are proud to exclusively offer this Chiana action figure to collectors," Jason Labowitz noted. "We are grateful to Sci Fi Channel and Toy Vault for this tremendous opportunity, and believe Chiana will enjoy widespread success on the retail level based on the popularity of the character and on the increasing demand for 'Farscape' product on the collector fan level. As always, we will ensure that our mint-condition-only figures are delivered to consumers in the most reliable and expedient manner possible." Entertainment Earth represents one of the few Internet sites in the world to have been profitable from day one. Since it was established almost five years ago, the company has enjoyed a 230% average annual sales growth rate and is known for anticipating and fulfilling the needs of consumers around the world. Co-founder Jason Labowitz, in fact, helped found the business as an outgrowth of his own passion for collectibles, and both he and his brother remain committed to running the company from a collector's vantage point. Based in Los Angeles, Entertainment Earth is the leading Internet retailer of collectible action figures, toys and memorabilia. Founded by action figure collectors with a strong understanding of the industry from a merchant and consumer point of view, the company offers an unprecedented mint-condition guarantee on products from "Star Wars" and other universally-popular films, television shows, comics and traditional books.
