Jackie Chan Stretches Acting Skills With Armstrong Movie
|
Jackie Chan just may be becoming an action figure...again. Sure, by now you know of the super-cool, super-poseable 12" Jackie Chan action figures from Dragon Models (if not check out our RTM Spotlight here), and you know about the Jackie Chan Adventures animated series debuting soon on the Kids WB, which could possibly spawn it's own toyline if the series is a success (nothing has been announced). But, what about Jackie's plans to star on the big screen as a world famous action figure? Here's four words you probably never put together before: Jackie Chan, Stretch Armstrong. According to a recent story in the Hollywood Reporter, Chan is in negotiations with Disney to stretch his big screen presence even further in a feature film about the stretchable superhero. Slated to produce the long-in-development project, yet-to-be-greenlit, project are Paul Schiff and Doug Draizin. No director is attached yet, but scribes Bill Collage and Adam Cooper have been tapped to tailor a script to Chan's strength as a comedic, martial artist. According to the Hollywood Reporter the story line will revolve around Chan, who would star as an uptight Chinese spy and martial artist who stumbles upon a secret formula that gives him stretching powers. With his newfound abilities, the character, who was previously in control and used precise fighting moves, must adapt to use his new skills in fighting. While the project is still some ways off (Chan has Rush Hour 2 and a remake of Jerry Lewis' The Bell Boy in the pipeline, still) the movie will likely result in it's own toy spin-off, given the properties roots. RTM will bring you more information as it becomes available. [Posted 8/28/2000]
