Darkman vs Army of Darkness Comic

army of darkness comic book

Runnemede, NJ, May 30, 2006 - Dynamite Entertainment announced today more details concerning their upcoming comic book series featuring Darkman - and the cool creator Cover artist is....... George Perez! The comic book series is being developed through an agreement with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group, licensor for the Darkman franchise.

"This is a BIG one," explained Dynamite Spokesperson J. Allen. "We were able to get George to sign on for this special event before he signed his exclusive to DC. We're grateful that he left space for us in his schedule to provide some "dynamite" covers for the launch of Darkman! Right now, we're waiting on pins and needles to see George's cover to the rest of the event series! This is bigger than big! This is DYNAMITE!"

The company previously announced that Darkman would launch as part of a special cross-over with the Sam Raimi helmed Army of Darkness, a cross-over that we hope the fans love as much as the creators putting it together do, featuring the writing of Kurt Busiek with Roger Stern, who will be joined on the cross-over launch by artist James Fry. Issue #1 is being offered now in Previews Magazine, in the Dynamite Entertainment section!

"George is now officially the icing on the cake," concluded Allen. "Stay tuned for more details!"

ABOUT THE DARKMAN FRANCHISE
The Darkman franchise began with the 1990 film directed by Sam Raimi, starring Liam Neeson as scientist Peyton Westlake, and was followed by two made-for-video sequels.

Scarred and badly burnt after criminals attack and demolish his laboratory, doctors are forced to destroy Westlake's nerve endings, thus giving him incredible strength and making him oblivious to pain. He becomes Darkman, a hero who seeks revenge upon corrupt developer Louis Strack, Jr. (played by Colin Friels) and mobster Robert G. Durant (played by Larry Drake), the men responsible for destroying his life. To hide his scarring and blend into crowds, Westlake wears synthetic skin that dissolves in light after a certain amount of time, which he also uses to disguise himself as other people.

Darkman II: The Return of Durant
The crime-fighting master of disguises returns in this action-packed sequel to the hit motion picture. Hard Target's Arnold Vosloo stars as Darkman, and Larry Drake reprises his role as the sadistic villain Robert G. Durant.

Co-starring Kim Delaney (NYPD Blue), Darkman II: The Return of Durant is filled with nonstop action, suspense and special effects which leave you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Darkman III: Die Darkman Die
Arnold Vosloo returns as Dr. Peyton Westlake, a.k.a. Darkman, the crime-fighting master of disguises. In this action-packed adventure, Westlake matches wits with underworld drug-dealing villain Peter Rooker (Jeff Fahey), who will do anything to unmask the secret of Westlake's superhuman strength.

Agreeing to an experimental operation on his ravaged body, Westlake is flung into a vicious game of survival for himself, his priceless research and the lives of two innocent people. One false move and he will be locked into darkness forever.

From Executive Producers Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert, creators of the original film, Darkman III: Die Darkman Die, like its predecessors, is jam-packed with surprises, staggering special effects and never-ending thrills.
