eBay: MyCollectibles & Collector's Corner

eBay Introduces Two New Destinations for eBay Community to Join in Social Collecting; Empowers a Community of Collectors to Publish and Share Knowledge and Images of Their Collections

LAS VEGAS -- June 12, 2006 -- eBay today introduced two new destinations -- MyCollectibles provided by Kaboodle and Collector's Corner provided by Mpire -- to make it easier for collectors to showcase, discover and connect with others who share similar collecting interests. The announcement was made from Las Vegas where the fourth annual eBay Collectibles Summit is being held prior to the eBay Live! Community conference.

"Collecting has long been a very individual pursuit," said Laurence Toney, director, eBay Collectibles. "The introduction of MyCollectibles and Collector's Corner changes that dynamic by leveraging the Internet to create a 'social collecting' experience for millions of collectors in the eBay Community."

MyCollectibles (http://www.ebay.com/mycollectibles) allows eBay members to connect with one another while showcasing, comparing and reviewing their favorite collections. Items on virtual display could range from Swarvoski crystal to Air Jordan basketball shoes to mint condition baseball cards, and everything in between. Entire collections or just select items can be displayed, and items purchased on eBay.com can be added with a few simple clicks.

Kaboodle's technology, which simplifies collecting, organizing and sharing information on the Internet, allows members to simply publish information and upload images of their favorite item or collections. Others are able to view, review and comment, as well as have conversation with the collection owner through a message board.

"eBay is bringing the social Web to the masses by offering collectors an online home for easily organizing and sharing their treasured collectibles," said Manish Chandra, founder and CEO of Kaboodle. "We're excited to be working together to expand the world of collecting to a broader, more diverse online community through MyCollectibles."

Collector's Corner (http://www.ebay.com/collectorscorner) is a central hub for every collector to interact, learn and discover what's happening in the world of collecting. Collecting-related content and features are also offered, along with links to many collectibles resources. Collectors can also learn about grading, authenticating, writing reviews, buyer's guides, and how to sell collectibles on eBay.

Developed through Mpire, the first online shopping service that shows users the true market value of items they wish to buy, Collector's Corner also displays dynamic information about the most recent sales trends and pop culture comparisons on hot topics, such as the average price of items related to NBA basketball stars.

"We feel strong search functionality, reliable data around sales trends and an entertaining consumer experience make for a valuable combination for shoppers," said Matt Hulett, Chairman and CEO of Mpire. "Collector's Corner puts all of these pieces together to make a more informed collector, whether they have been collecting for years or just getting started."
