K'NEX: the 2007 K'NEXpert Search

Construction Toy Company Offers Big Prizes in Nationwide Search

HATFIELD, Pa., Aug. 31, 2006 -- In celebration of its 15th anniversary, K'NEX, the construction toy company, is offering a $15,000 savings bond -- its largest award ever -- to the Grand Prize Winner of the 2007 K'NEXpert Search. Open to children ages 6-12, the Search invites young builders across the country to put on their thinking caps and get to work constructing ultra-creative, original models made entirely from K'NEX parts.

Ten additional winners will each receive $1,500 savings bonds, along with building sets, K'NEX gear, and an invitation to visit the K'NEX headquarters and discover, through company designers, how K'NEX is made.

To carry on the spirit of celebration, K'NEX will donate $250,000 of product, through the Today Show, to various children's charities for the holiday season.

Children everywhere may enter the K'NEXpert Search via the K'NEX web site, www.knex.com. In addition, because of its excellent educational value, K'NEX will partner with elementary schools across the country, inviting students grades one through six to participate in the K'NEXpert Classroom Challenge. Teachers and their classes will compete against classrooms at the same grade level, building a model based on a specific building challenge. One winner will be chosen for each grade level, with winning classrooms receiving several prizes including a $300 K'NEX Education gift certificate and a free K'NEX building set for every child in the class.

The 2007 K'NEXpert Search will run from September 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006 with winners announced in February 2007. Children enter by printing out the entry form from the K'NEX web site and mailing it in to K'NEX with a photo of their creation. Entries must fit into one of four building categories: models that move; architecture; vehicles; and amusement park thrill rides. Kids are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild -- models are judged on creativity, uniqueness and detail.
