Tyco R/C Unleashes N.S.E.C.T.

N.S.E.C.T.™ Creature Invades the Holidays

New Robotic Insectoid Joins Tyco® R/C's Cyber Menagerie

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (October 26, 2006) - Fast on the heels of last year's smash-hit, Toy Industry Association's "Boy Toy of the Year" the Shell Shocker™ creature, Mattel, Inc. today announced the latest Tyco® R/C creation to emerge from its top secret labs - N.S.E.C.T.™ - a robotic attack creature.

Years in development, the N.S.E.C.T.™ (New Science of Experimental Combat Technology) creature features Variable Motion Technology™, allowing it to move just like a creepy crawler one might find in a backyard. All six legs work in conjunction with one another to help the N.S.E.C.T.™ creature scurry across the floor and overcome various obstacles.

"After Shell Shocker escaped from our labs last year, we developed N.S.E.C.T. - a robotic attack creature that we could use to combat the threat," said Geoff Walker, Vice President of Wheels Marketing, Mattel Brands. "We're fortunate that Tyco R/C has become a playground for designers to let their imaginations run wild and create fantastic toys with amazing backstories - something that's virtually unheard of in the R/C category."

New owners are encouraged to log on to the N.S.E.C.T.™ Force Web site (www.nsectforce.com), an "in-character" military compound filled with training activities, film clips of the creature's development and assorted mysteries to unlock. There also are contests and challenges to participate in where recruits have the chance to win a special "stealth" N.S.E.C.T.™ creature that's painted black.

"Armor plated" and ready to go, the N.S.E.C.T.™ creature comes equipped with an assortment of weaponry seldom seen in the R/C aisle. Besides its intimidating appearance, the creature also features a pinching claw that allows it to pick up and transport objects. However, its greatest weapon is cleverly concealed. With the press of a button, the creature's eyes change color from a cautionary yellow to an angry red as its wings rise to reveal a hidden cannon that can be adjusted for targeting. Press another button and the N.S.E.C.T.™ creature fires its six foam suction cup darts in rapid-fire succession or one at a time.

The N.S.E.C.T.™ creature is available in two separate colors and frequencies (for head-to-head battles or multi-bug attacks) for a suggested retail price of $99.99, each sold separately, subject to availability and comes complete with all necessary batteries and a charger for operation. Colors and decorations may vary.
