Calling All Kids to Submit Their Most Creative and Imaginative Adventure Story With PLAYMOBIL
Children Ages Three to Eight Have Chance to Win Prizes in PLAYMOBIL Adventure Contest
CRANBURY, N.J., Nov. 13, 2006 -- Kids with wild imaginations -- from pretending to sail the high seas as Captain Blackbeard or to scoring the winning goal in the World Cup -- can now take those ideas and dreams and submit them to win prizes in PLAYMOBIL's new contest.
The PLAYMOBIL Adventure Contest is part of PLAYMOBIL's Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of Play, which encourages caregivers to: act as a guide to play, provide children with an appropriate space to play and enough time to play.
In study after study, play has revealed demonstrable benefits in developing children's social, emotional and motor skills. This contest, in partnership with Yale researcher and RDA of Play advisor Dr. Dorothy Singer, encourages children to think about what they have learned through play. Singer joins the contest as an honoree judge and play expert to help select the best entries.
"When children are engaging in pretend play, they tell stories, they make letter sounds that increase their vocabulary and word comprehension. The RDA of Play is one of the most important ingredients 3- to 8-year-old children need to develop the cognitive, social, emotional and motor skills that lead to school readiness," said Dr. Singer.
Children can submit a photo or story of their favorite PLAYMOBIL adventure for a chance to win up to $250 worth of PLAYMOBIL toys. The entries will be split into two age groups with winners selected in the 3- to 5-year-old age group and the 6- to 8-year-old age group. Entries will be judged on creativity, originality and relevance to the theme. Entry forms are available at local specialty toy stores nationwide. Store locations and official rules can be found on http://www.playmobil.com.
WHAT MAKES PLAYMOBIL TOYS UNIQUE
A multi-year winner of accolades such as FamilyFun's "Toy of the Year," the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award, the TODAY Show's Toy Awards and Parents "Best Toy of the Year" award, the cornerstone of all PLAYMOBIL activities is the two and three quarter inch figure which can bend, sit, stand, turn its head and move its arms. The hands, which can grasp, rotate and carry accessories, are what make realistic play possible. The figures also have a smiley face that suits just about any play situation. All PLAYMOBIL men, women, children and animals are compatible with all other PLAYMOBIL vehicles, accessories and environments. The bright colors and rounded edges are appealing to children. And the unique construction features locking-grid building pieces that allow children to change their play worlds by creating new buildings. With numerous themes to choose from in a variety of age-appropriate settings, PLAYMOBIL is dedicated to enriching the lives of children by encouraging them to use their imaginations.
