D&D® comes to D.C.
Thirty Years Worth of eXPerience Points Add Up to Adventure
RENTON, WASH. (January 15, 2006) - In August 1814, British troops stormed and sacked the nation's capitol. In February 2007, it's the Orcs that Washingtonians must beware! This winter, the world's largest DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® fan fest returns to the Washington Metropolitan Area from February 15-17 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City. D&D eXPerience™, formerly known as Winter Fantasy, is a celebration of the progenitor of the worldwide roleplaying phenomenon. Hundreds of gamers from coast to coast and border to border will descend on the capitol region to participate in three days of non-stop gaming. Founded in Lake Geneva, Wisc, in 1977, the annual event celebrating the world's first and oldest roleplaying game observes its Pearl Anniversary with a new name, look, and feel.
"We spent the last year assessing fan input and recommendations and are reshaping this iconic celebration into the premier event of its kind anywhere in the world," said Scott Rouse, senior brand manager for DUNGEONS & DRAGONS at Wizards of the Coast. "Our goal is for D&D eXPerience to be the destination event for every fan of the game much like Mac World is for fans of Apple Computers."
Among the highlights of the new D&D eXPerience in 2007:
- Exclusive releases, including a "No Cameras Allowed" section that gives a glimpse into titles further in advance than has ever been offered before.
- A D&D library featuring over 20 years of roleplaying game supplements, D&D Minis, core rule books, and novels from some of the world's most popular fantasy authors.
- LAN stations/Dungeons & Dragons Online
- Special seminars with a behind the scenes look at how a D&D title is created from concept to publication.
