Show Us Your Lightsaber Video Contest

HASBRO'S STAR WARS VIDEO CONTEST ILLUSTRATES AMUSING ALTERNATE USES FOR REVOLUTIONARY FORCE ACTION LIGHTSABERS

PAWTUCKET, RI, February 27, 2007 -- It slices! It dices! It changes galactic political climates! And soon, fans of Hasbro Inc.'s STAR WARS FORCE ACTION LIGHTSABER will unveil hundreds of other practical uses for the "elegant weapon from a more civilized age."

For many eons, lightsabers were used exclusively to maintain peace and order across the galaxy. Now, Hasbro invites STAR WARS fans to show the universe additional use ideas for the FORCE ACTION LIGHTSABER by participating in the "Show Us Your Lightsaber" Video Contest.

The FORCE ACTION LIGHTSABER, which was launched Fall 2006 and was very popular this past holiday season, is the first-ever spring-activated light-up lightsaber that activates with the touch of a button. Providing the most authentic lightsaber role-playing experience ever, the FORCE ACTION LIGHTSABER blade extends an impressive three feet in length and features the classic lightsaber battle sounds and a power-activating "hum."

Hasbro encourages fans to post their videos to the website demonstrating the various ways they use the FORCE ACTION LIGHTSABER to the popular website, YouTube. Fans will have a chance to win a trip for four to the STAR WARS Celebration IV convention in Los Angeles in May, as well as a one-of-a-kind chrome FORCE ACTION LIGHTSABER.

"Our passionate STAR WARS fans already realize that the FORCE ACTION LIGHTSABER is more than just a toy," said Derryl DePriest, brand director for Hasbro's STAR WARS division. "We anticipate getting some amazing videos that illustrate a lot ingenuity, creativity and enthusiasm for the STAR WARS movie franchise."

To enter, fans must visit www.youtube.com where they can join the "Show Us Your Lightsaber" YouTube group (www.youtube.com/group/showusyourlightsaber) and then upload their videos. Fans interested in submitting their videos to be judged should then visit http://showusyourlightsaber.hasbro.com where they will be able to complete and submit a contest entry form. Video submissions will be judged based on creativity, humor and originality.

In order to be eligible to win and to be posted to the YouTube "Show Us Your Lightsaber" group page, video submissions must be received by March 11, 2007 and must comply with the following rules (complete rules will be available Feb. 2):

  • Participants must be more than 13 years old to enter the contest
  • The video must include use of the Hasbro Force Action Lightsaber
  • The video must show the lightsaber activating
  • The video must not exceed one minute in length
  • Obscene or inappropriate videos will not be considered or posted
  • Videos may not show the lightsaber making contact with and/or harming people, property or animals. Any such video will not be considered or posted
