LEGO Children's Fund Launches

LEGO Systems Inc. Establishes Lego® Children's Fund to Champion Youth Creativity Through Charitable Giving - Company creates foundation to underscore commitment to community action

ENFIELD, Conn., June 25, 2007 -- LEGO Systems Inc., the Americas (North America and Latin America) division of the LEGO Group, a privately-held, family-owned firm based in Billund, Denmark, today announced the formation of the LEGO® Children's Fund, a nonprofit foundation established to support organizations and programs dedicated to inspiring and encouraging youth creativity, thereby improving their quality of life and preparing them for the future. The fund enables LEGO Systems to share its success by awarding cash grants to charitable organizations in the United States that foster a child's exploration of personal creativity in all forms. Guidelines and grant applications are available at http://www.LEGOchildrensfund.org.

The LEGO Children's Fund was incorporated with an initial corporate contribution of 1.2 million dollars and is governed by a six-member Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for evaluating requests and making formal grant recommendations in accordance with the foundation's charter, which is to reflect the LEGO brand values, orientation and commitment to being exemplary corporate citizens to serve as a catalyst for change.

"This year marks the 75th anniversary of the LEGO brand inspiring the development of children's creativity around the world," said Soren Torp Laursen, president, LEGO Systems, Inc. "The LEGO Children's Fund was designed to provide a sustainable means for supporting those organizations that tirelessly foster, promote and advocate for children's creative development so that they may become builders of tomorrow. As we continue our growth as a company, it is important to find ways for LEGO Systems to bring a positive and lasting change to our community and our nation, and we see the biggest opportunity for us to play a role in the development of children's creative minds and innovative spirits."

The LEGO Children's Fund will make cash grants to nonprofit organizations with programs dedicated to a child's exploration of creativity that cater to children ages birth to 14, with priority consideration for disadvantaged or at risk youth. Grants will be reviewed on a quarterly basis by the Board of Directors and charitable organizations selected by the committee will typically receive cash grants of between $500 and $5,000. Additionally, the Fund aims to make one $100,000 grant per year to an organization identified and selected by the Board of Directors.

The LEGO Children's Fund also will provide monetary support to those qualified local and national organizations to which LEGO employees donate their time, especially those who cater to children and children's creativity. While the Fund will not make product donations, LEGO Systems will maintain its play material donations program to qualified organizations in the Connecticut and Western Massachusetts areas.

LEGO Systems Inc. (LSI) is the Americas (North America and Latin America) division of the LEGO Group, a privately-held firm based in Billund, Denmark. The LEGO Group is committed to the development of children's creative and imaginative abilities through high-quality, creatively educational play materials, and its employees are guided by the motto adopted in the 1930s by founder Ole Kirk Christiansen: "Only the best is good enough."
