2004
San Diego Comic Con International:
DC Direct
One section of the DC Comics booth was devoted to DC Direct items, and they gave out a very handy release date schedule for the products.
The action figures on display included several new series, including the Alex Ross JLA action figures (Superman, Sinestro, Cheetah, Bizarro, and the Flash) which had just been announced the week before the convention. These figures should be in stores in February 2005.
The first series of Crisis on Infinite Earths action figures (Kara Zor El Supergirl, Monitor, Earth 2 Robin, Psycho Pirate, and Harbinger) was shown, with a planned released date of June 2005. (The Monitor figure was not on display, although we're expecting that it will be on display during the Wizard World Chicago convention, August 13 to 15.)
The second wave of Contemporary Teen Titans action figures (Superboy, Kid Flash, Brother Blood, and Ravager) should be in stores in January 2005.
Photographs of the Microman imports from Takara were on display, but not the actual figures: the Catwoman will be sold by herself, while Batman and Batgirl will be sold as a set. These should be in comic book stores on December 8, 2004.
The new Collector Figures line will kick off with Superman (shown below) and the Green Lantern. These will feature additional cloth outfits, and Superman will include interchangeable hands. These figures will be 1:6th scale, and so will be about 13 inches tall.
SDcomics passed along this information from his visit to the DC Direct display:
Also, the Mattel people are going to do an Amazo figure in their Justice League line. Click on any of the pictures below to see a larger version. (Many of these images are very large.)
In late 2005 or early 2006, there will be some Modern Justice Society assortments. They are going to be five-figure assortments and one of the five figures will be a Golden Age JSA member. In other words, if they have, for example, a Modern Age Mr. Terrific, then there will be a Golden Age Mr. Terrific as well.
