San Diego Comic Con International:
Toy Biz
Toy Biz didn't have a lot of things to show at the convention, and part of this is due to the planned 're-launch' of Marvel Legends and Spider-Man at next year's Toy Fair with ML Series 9. More details of the changes will be revealed later, but looking at the ML9 and ML10 figures we have nothing to worry about.
They did show several new figures, including Dr. Strange (ML9), Bullseye (ML9) and the Black Panther (ML10). The other five figures from ML9 and the rest of ML10 will most likely be revealed at Toy Fair in Feb 2005.
The two versions of Ghost Rider (ML 7) are the regular (black) and the variant (blue) versions.
Storm (ML8) was shown with her variant head (Mohawk).
The Black Panther (ML10) does include a long, full-length cape but it was too heavy for the prototype so they left it off for the show. The version show at the con will be the regular version of Black Panther, and there will be a variant of him with a shorter cape and grey gloves and boots (basically a version close to the classic version).
These are general release dates and are subject to change (but are current as of the con in late July 04).
ML7 - Sept 04 They also had a new Sandman and an Alex Ross inspired Spider-man, both of which will be in a future series of Spider-Man Classics. Sandman will be released for four arms total (they will be interchangeable). One will be a sandy 'clamp' that can wrap around Spidey's head.
For Lord of the Rings there was a new 'Dark Queen' Galadriel, Peter Jackson as a hobbit, possessed Bilbo, Elrond and party Bilbo shown, along with a 2-UP of the orc Gothmog (sculpted by Phil Ramirez).
They also had what will probably be the last series of roto-cast LOTR, with Gandalf the White, Armored Troll, Sam and Frodo.
