Diamond Select Toys:
Marvel Select
Marvel Select is a joint venture between Diamond Select Toys and Toy Biz to produce characters based on Marvel properties for the collector market. The figures in the line are based around a seven-inch scale (seven inches equals six feet) and come in bookend like packaging with elaborate bases. The line is designed to encompass a total of 36 characters released on a monthly basis (though the schedule was slightly off due to the dock workers strike in late 2002).
The series started with the Ultimate Spider-Man, then Marvel Knights Punisher, Elektra, Ultimate WW 2 Captain America and the new Black Widow. The line will continue with Origin Wolverine in March, Black Cat in April, Ultimate Iron Man in May and Ultimate Hulk in June.
The Black Cat figure has a removable Spider-Man figure with it and is based on the recent Kevin Smith interpretation on the character. Ultimate Iron Man and Hulk come of the Ultimate Marvel Universe, and Iron Man has plenty of cable and an armoring machine base. The Hulk is a huge figure at over 8" tall with plenty of articulation, including swivel and bending ankles, ball-jointed shoulders and modified hip joints.
After the Ultimate Hulk figure the next two figures will be from the new Spider-Man CG series due to premier on MTV. The first two figures will be Spider-Man and Electro from the show, and they are due for release in July and August respectively. These will count as part of the 36 figures in the line. There aren't approved images for these figures yet, but once they are available we'll pass that on.
