Wizards of the Coast also recently unveiled plans for the second annual Star War Trading Card Game Championships to be held at the GenCon gaming convention in July, where there will be $20,000 in overall prize support. The DCI is the governing authority for all officially sanctioned Star Wars trading card game tournaments.
Richard Garfield, award-winning game designer and creator of the popular Magic The Gathering Trading Card Game, developed the game's innovative game mechanics to enhance the Star Wars experience by allowing players to plan and execute the high-stakes gambits and intense action of a climactic Star Wars battle. The Star Wars TCG gives players the power to choose if they will play on the light side or the dark side, and which characters and ships to employ in their battles.
