Wizard World Texas
Cason Pilliod (Casimir) attended the show and reports the following (scroll down to see pictures):
As this was the first-ever Wizard show in Texas, the size and scale was understandably smaller than the Wizard shows located elsewhere. Unfortunately for us locals, that meant there wasn't much to see beyond what's always offered (and repeated) at our locally organized shows. Sure, there were more artists and writers to get autographs from if that's your thing, but not much else.
A few companies had booths, and some of those had new wares on display. Noticeably absent were both Hasbro and Mattel. (Hasbro's shown off new stuff at smaller shows in the area in the past.) The most toy-friendly booth was the Palisades booth, as expected. Lots of new Muppets products to be seen, including the first time I've ever seen the regular Rowlf figure. They also showed off some new G.I. Joe statues and busts, and the new line of Transformers statues based on Pat Lee's art. Finally, the new Pink Panther line was on display.
Previews/Diamond Comics had a small booth, with a small case containing some upcoming Mini-Mates, the Marvel Select Green Goblin and the much hyped Willow, regular version. (Oddly enough, not on display at the Moore Collectibles booth.)
NECA showed the amazing Skeletor statue and Merman bust.
