Wizard World Chicago:
DC Direct
DC Comics devoted a portion of their booth to DC Direct action figures and collectible items. Of special interest to fans were the Batman Hush action figures, which were unveiled at Wizard World Chicago. Batman, the Joker, and Poison Ivy were on display, and they will be joined by Hush and the Huntress for release in April 2004.
A few notes on articulation in the Hush line... The Joker's jaw is articulated. The Poison Ivy on display is a prototype and will have more articulation than is shown here: ball-jointed neck and shoulders, elbows, t-crotch, and knees.
The First Appearances action figures made their first appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con, but in Chicago they were a bit further along. The figures in the pictures below are still prototypes, so there are small changes which will be made before the final product is released. One such change is Batman's gloves - they will be toned down a bit to an ashy purple color. The four figures in this line are Batman, Wonder Woman, Shazam!, and the Flash. Expect to see these figures released in June 2004.
Another new series shown this summer is the Return of Superman action figure assortment - the Steel figure made its debut in Chicago, while the Superboy, Eradicator, and Black-Suited Superman were first shown in San Diego.
To see roughly when each of these items will be released, please check the DC Direct release date schedule.
