The Straw Hat Ronin himself, Josh Hechinger, had this to say about the toy line: "Since semi-obscure guys like Starman and Elongated Man did so well, we decided to move to some more second stringers. Canary is a much demanded figure, as is a JL Joker. Tornado needed a repaint, and Fire, Doctor Mid Nite, and Wildcat all appear on the show in some way, shape or form. The surprise figure is the Blue Beetle, who's an office favorite. Since he unfortunately can't show up on JLU, we decided to give him some lovin' here. Vigilante and Ice weren't completed at the time of the Con, but they're in the pipeline."
