Mattel Must branch Out.
Just when it seems Mattel's JLU line stands on its
last legs of creativity, the company contacts Casimir
for inspiration and support that may fill the empty
JLU pegs across the nation. In conjunction with
fellow artist and geek, Tyke, Casimir sets out on a
mission of creating a grand wave of JLU figures to
guarantee both sales and smiles. Because the tests,
headaches, and chores of becoming a new daddy keeps
Casimir from the work-table, Tyke is asked to ditch
his own wife and pick up a paintbrush and dental tool.
All work is from the hands of Tyke, but some from the
mind of Casimir.
Both Tyke and Casimir want Mattel to branch out and
grasp storylines from the JLU comic book published by
DC Comics. As greats such as Ty Templeton and Bruce
Timm contribute a fair share of labor to the covers,
it is Carlo Barberi that is the true gem of this
title. Characters such as Black Lightning, Queen Bee,
and Unmasked Steel are based on Barberi's art.
As Mattel has proven time and time again, saving
money is a must for this toy line. Simple repaints,
head-swaps, and accessory-adding can be an effective
strategy to keep the line alive. Such strategies will
be implemented in this wave-the final hope for the JLU
line of toys.
In addition to the "JLU-niverse", DC's recent
acquisition of Robert Kirkman's, Battle Pope and
Invincible will play key roles in our efforts to save
the JLU line.
The following are prototypes to be presented to
Mattel this summer.keep your fingers crossed and say
your prayers for approval.
