Irwin Toy is extremely excited about their SCX product line, developed under their Techni Toys brand. SCX is a high-quality slot-car-like racing set that is turning into something of a rage. These ain't your daddy's slot cars - with SCX it's a whole new race. Produced at a 1:32 scale, these racers are considerably larger than the stand HO scale racers most people are familiar with.

According to Irwin, their biggest demographic for SCX falls into the 32-45 age range, but kids love these sets, too! SCX seems like a terrific itemS for parents and kids to enjoy together.

The quality and detail of the SCX cars is astounding. They are comparable to some of the high-end collectible cars out on the market now, but these have the added feature of being able to race on SCX tracks!

The SCX track itself is also a key feature. These are hard, rigid tracks. The SCX tracks are softer, almost rubber-like, and far more durable than your standard race tracks, able to really take a beating race after race.

When RTM met with Irwin, they had just received the actual production pieces of the new Arrows Orange Team car, so these are the first pictures of this actual car seen anywhere.

As you can see from the picture of the packaged Arrows Orange Team car (above, left) even the packaging is high-quality. The cars are held in place inside the package with a plastic bolt that attaches the car to the base. So, there are no unsightly twist-ties obscuring the vehicle if you want to display your cars in their packaging.

Irwin has produced a Tyrrell P34 for their SCX Vintage line. This special edition car is limited to a production run of only 2,000 units.
