DC at Wizard World

June 25, 2002 - Next week, from July 5-7, members of the DC staff and freelance community will be in attendance at Wizard World Chicago.

DC's big booth will be staffed by editorial personnel including Mike Carlin, VP - Executive Editor, DC Universe; Dan DiDio, VP - Editorial; Scott Dunbier, Group Editor - WildStorm; Bob Schreck; Group Editor; Eddie Berganza, Senior Editor; and Shelly Bond, Senior Editor. Ed Bolkus, Art Director - DC Direct, will be in Chicago as well.

The Direct Sales staff will be on hand to meet retailers and address their questions and concerns. Attending the show are Bob Wayne, VP - Direct Sales, Patty Jeres, Director - Sales & Marketing Communications; Fletcher Chu-Fong, Manager - Events & Retailer Services; Matt Keller, Manager - Marketing Services; Vince Letterio, Manager - Direct Sales; Anton Kawasaki, Assistant Manager - Marketing Communictions; Mike Scigliano, Representative - Direct Sales; Stuart Schreck, Representative - Direct Sales; and Janexy Virella, Representative, Marketing Services.

DC's sponsored guests in Chicago include Alé Garza (GEN13), Leonard Kirk (JSA), and Damion Scott (BATGIRL).

Among other items being given away at the booth are free copies of GEN13 #0.

Friday, July 5

DC COMICS PORTFOLIO REVIEW ORIENTATION SESSIONS: 1pm
The never-ending quest for the best and brightest new talent continues, as DC staff members outline the requirements for joining the ranks of DC Comics freelancers. In order to schedule a portfolio review, attendance at this orientation session is mandatory - though not all attendees are guaranteed a review. A limited number of review tickets will be distributed after the presentation.

DC DIRECT BRAINSTORMING SESSION: 1pm-2pm
One of the most popular producers of comics-related paraphernalia, DC DIRECT continues to bring DC characters to life with their line of action figures, statues, posters, PVC sets, and much more. Join DC's Vice President - Sales & Marketing Bob Wayne and DC Direct Art Director Ed Bolkus for an interactive brainstorming session on the future of DC Direct. Your idea might even become the next DC Direct product!

EVOLVING VERTIGO: 4pm-5pm
Today's most innovative and challenging books are from VERTIGO, and this year there's an even more diverse array of intriguing new projects. This slide show features VERTIGO Senior Editor Shelly Bond, writers Brian Azzarello and Robert Rodi, HELLBLAZER cover artist Tim Bradstreet and more as they preview new books and events that will continue to push VERTIGO over the edge.

JLA/JSA: THE WORLD'S GREATEST SUPER-TEAMS!: 5pm-6pm
Between the epic adventure of their ongoing titles and special events like the upcoming JLA/JSA: VIRTUE AND VICE graphic novel, the JLA and JSA are working overtime to live up to their collective nickname: The World's Greatest Super-Heroes. Find out what's cooking for these titanic teams with your host, DC's Vice President - Executive Editor, DC Universe Mike Carlin, writer Geoff Johns, artist Leonard Kirk, and more.

DC COMICS PORTFOLIO REVIEW ORIENTATION SESSIONS: 11am

WILDSTORM: EYE OF THE STORM: 2:30pm-3:30pm
Everyone is talking about the projects coming from WildStorm Productions - which includes the CLIFFHANGER, HOMAGE and AMERICA'S BEST COMICS lines, as well as WildStorm's new mature-readers line, THE EYE OF THE STORM! The innovation and creative energy continues to multiply in the coming months, as this slideshow and panel discussion will prove. WildStorm Group Editor Scott Dunbier is joined by writer Jimmy Palmiotti, artist Al� Garza, and more. Moderated by DC's Director - Sales & Marketing Communications Patty Jeres.

THE DC UNIVERSE: RACING INTO TOMORROW!: 5pm-6pm
Major changes and epic storylines face comics' greatest super-heroes in 2002 and beyond. This slide presentation provides an advance look at new projects and surprises for the coming months with Group Editor Bob Schreck, Senior Editor Eddie Berganza, BATMAN writer Jeph Loeb, THE FLASH writer Geoff Johns, JSA penciller Leonard Kirk, and more. For anyone who's ever wondered how to make the big break into the comics field - some of the biggest names in the business reveal the startling stories of how they got their starts! With DC Universe Group Editor Bob Schreck, plus Alé Garza, Paul Storrie, Rob Rodi, Terry Moore, Amanda Connor, and more.

BUILDING THE PERFECT COVER: 2pm-3pm
Whether they're from the worlds of Vertigo, WildStorm or the DC Universe, DC Comics have some of the greatest covers in the comics biz! Now, some of DC's top cover artists let you in on the secrets of constructing such arresting images. With WildStorm Group Editor Scott Dunbier and artists including Tim Bradstreet, Dave Johnson, J.G. Jones, Phil Noto and Joe Jusko.
