OAK BROOK, Ill. (December 19, 2002) � The magical, mysterious world of Yu-Gi-Oh! will hit McDonald's this Friday when a series of exclusive, official Yu-Gi-Oh! trading cards and bonus CD-ROMs will be offered with McDonald's Mighty Kids Meal purchases at participating restaurants, while supplies last. Throughout the three-week promotion, each Mighty Kids Meal at McDonald's will include two of 15 different Yu-Gi-Oh! trading cards plus one of three different CD-ROMs. Each Mighty Kids Meal™ will also include a checklist of McDonald's 15 exclusive collectible cards.
Beginning as a comic strip in Japan in 1996, Yu-Gi-Oh! has evolved into the latest trend among tweens and teens throughout the country. The plot of the popular card game centers around a young boy named Yugi who pieces together an Egyptian "Millennium Puzzle" and suddenly becomes Yu-Gi-Oh!, a confident hero with extraordinary powers.
"Yu-Gi-Oh! is one of the most sought-after gifts of the season," said Kathy Pyle, Director of Marketing, McDonald's USA. "This property has really captured the imagination of this age group, and we're excited to bring the Yu-Gi-Oh! excitement and sense of play to our Mighty Kids Meals customers through McDonald's exclusive set of playing cards and bonus CD-Roms."
Kids will be excited with the chance to get the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading cards featuring Ushi Oni, Yaranzo, Yamadron, Fairy's Gift, Turtle Bird, Stuffed Animal, Frog the Jam, Flying Penguin, Megasonic Eye and Three-Legged Zombies, the Super Rare trading cards (Goddess of Whim, Takriminos and Dark Piercing Light), or two Ultra Rare trading cards cards (Millennium Shield, Cosmo Queen). The CD-ROMs in the Mighty Kids Meals will feature one of Yu-Gi-Oh!'s three main characters: Yami Yugi, Seto Kaiba, and Maximillion Pegasus.
McDonald's Mighty Kids Meals offer three different menu choices; a double cheeseburger, double hamburger or a 6-piece Chicken McNuggets® meal. Each Mighty Kids Meal also includes a Mighty Kids Meal drink and fries.
Yu-Gi-Oh! trading cards and CD-ROMs will be available at participating McDonald's through January 9, 2003, while supplies last.
