Heavy Metal: Rocky Road For Movie Doesn't Deter Figures
|
The convoluted fate of the Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 movie has left a lot of questions regarding the planned tie-in action figure products. Action figures supporting the animated sequel to the original Heavy Metal movie are planned from 3 seperate companies, Moore Action Collectibles, Kaiyodo and N2 Toys (plus a resin statue of scream-queen Julie Strain's character from D-Boy). The N2 line is actually based on an upcoming video game that takes place prior to the events of the movie. The movie has undergone a name change from Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 to Heavy Metal 2000. Securing wide distribution for the decidedly adult-targeted feature proved difficult, and the movie will now debut on cable's Encore channel on July 10th, before moving into theaters where it will likely play in art house midnight movie programs. Despite the rocky road taken by the film itself the various figure products are still coming. Moore Action Collectibles is soliciting it's F.A.K.K. 2 action figure in the current issue of Previews. There will also be a special "chase figure" available which comes with a Zeek figure and an extra weapon. [Update 4/03/2000]
