eBay Tips: Trading Assistants
|
November 2004 - eBay has issued the following fact sheet to aid new users: eBay Trading Assistants Facts-At-A-Glance
- Trading Assistants (TAs) are experienced eBay users who sell items for others on a consignment or fee basis.
- Requirements: All TAs must: - Have sold at least 4 items on eBay in the last 30 days
- Have a feedback rating of at least 50
- Have at least 97% positive feedback
- Be in good standing with eBay
- Benefits: TAs have the opportunity to:- Make large profits
- Leverage selling expertise without having to find product
- Improve business by listing their name in the online TA Directory
- Use marketing tools and materials to promote themselves and their business
- Program Specifics:- eBay users who'd like to list items on eBay but don't know how or don't have time can now hire TAs to list and sell items for them.
- After searching the Trading Assistant Directory, clients find a local TA or a TA that specializes in their kind of product and contacts the TA to arrange an initial meeting. They meet and agree on terms and conditions, including fees.
- TAs list items using their own (and not the client's) seller account.
- TAs are responsible for all eBay seller fees and consult with their client about how much of the fee they'll be reimbursed.
- TAs are not employees or independent contractors of eBay. Each TA runs his or her own business free from any involvement by eBay.
- Cost:- It costs nothing to become a Trading Assistant.
- Fun Facts:- Number of TAs on eBay: There are more than 50,000 registered trading assistants worldwide as of August 2004
- The TA Program began in February 2002
- Collectibles is an active category for TAs and TA client activity
Note: The ability to join the directory is a privilege, not a right, and eBay can remove the ability of a TA to post them to the directory. This is something eBay might do, for example, if clients started complaining about their service as a Trading Assistant. Including the name in eBay's Trading Assistants Program directory is a lot like running a classified ad for their services.
