The Compleat Sculptor Toy Makers Symposium 2005
January 2005 - The inaugural Toy Makers Meeting and Educational Symposium - the only event where fans and future toy makers can meet and learn from yesterday's legends, today's artists and tomorrows visionaries - is happening this February at the Compleat Sculptor in NYC. Consisting of four days of networking events, panels, lectures, and classes from some of the best and brightest in the toy industry, the event is available to the public for a small fee.
"The idea is to get all the creative people together and give the fan base and students a chance to sit down and learn from them," said Brett Klisch, Director of Marketing for the 2005 Compleat Sculptor Toy Maker Symposium, "They'll be able to see the entire process of how a toy gets onto the shelves, from initial design to the final product."
Participants include lectures and panels from: - Karl Meyer from Gentle Giant
Speaking on the digital technologies and how it is used in today's toy industry. - Digger from the Art Asylum
Speaking on the process' that the asylum uses to create their awesome toys. - Paul Budnitz from Kid Robot
Paul will be hosting a discussion of the Urban Vinyl industries brightest new talent. - Marc Fields of the Compleat Sculptor
Marc will be lecturing on current technologies available for the molding and casting of toy prototypes. - More to be added
Classes from some of the top Sculptors in the industry:- David Cortez
Dave will be teaching the process' and techniques he uses to create his amazing portraits. - Eric Nocella
This session will explain the basic principles of sculpting prototypes. - Jean St. John
Jean will show his techniques on achieving his photo realistic style. - More to be added
Seminars will cover topics like new innovations in the industry, what exactly a designer toy is, prototype design and more. Running from February 22nd through the 25th, the event is located in downtown New York City.
