X-Men Action Figure Explosion Coming

animated_wolvie.jpg - 10175 Bytes
By now everyone has seen the X-Men action figures from Toy Biz based on the blockbuster motion picture. Most X-fans are aware of the new animated series coming to Kids WB this fall, and the accompanying toyline to support it. And sharp-eyed viewers have caught the resurrected original X-Men animated series airing again on the Fox Kids network.

But did you know there was going to be a toyline based on that classic Fox animated series?

According to Individual Investor, who has been tracking the financial progress of Marvel Entertainment for some time now, Toy Biz will be extending its movie line with two other completely different X-Men action figure lines later this year based on two television cartoon series: the new X-Men Evolution on Kids WB and the original series on Fox.

A product line off the original cartoon will begin shipping in the early part of the fourth quarter, featuring many characters which are not in the movie such as Gambit, Beast and Colossus.

The action figures based on the new X-Men Evolution series will begin shipping later in the fourth quarter.

There is also at least one more assortment of action figures based on the movie planned for release later this year, as well.

``We're basically paralleling what happened with Batman early on,'' says Alan Fine, Toy Biz president and chief executive. ``We have more characters. That's the exciting thing.''

It's not known at this time if the toyline based on the Fox cartoon would simply consist of rereleases of Toy Biz's original X-Men toyline, or all-new sculpts. We do know that the folks at Toy Biz have some exciting stuff planned, and will be unveiling some of that at the San Diego Comic Con International this week.

RTM will be there for the duration of the Con, and we'll be talking with Toy Biz about what they've got planned. Be sure to stay tuned to RTM's San Diego Comic Con Coverage for more information.
