Toy Shop Hurricane Katrina Relief Auction Raises $29,345
Iola, Wis. - October 20, 2005 - The toy collecting community came out in full force for the Toy Shop Hurricane Katrina Relief Auction, raising $29,345 for the American Red Cross.
Toy Shop magazine and F+W Publications, with the help of online facilitators Charity Folks, conducted a toy auction of one-of-a-kind collectible toys, many of which were never available to the general public. In all, the sale included 44 lots of toys.
Several of the lots sold for well beyond their market values, showcasing the generosity of toy collectors. Some of the highlights include: - Lot of six Revenge of the Sith lightsabers in a special collectors case; $7,000 (Master Replicas)
- Conan the Barbarian Father's Sword; $4,000 (Albion/Film Swords)
- 2004 Holiday Gold/Chrome Sandtrooper mini bust; $3,750 (Gentle Giant)
- V-Rex vs. Kong statue; $655 (Weta Collectibles)
- Signature Series Alien Queen statue in silver finish; $1,105 (Palisades Toys)
- Silver Spider-Man Minimate; $480 (Diamond Select Toys)
