Real Kid Toy Testers Unveil the Best Toys for the 2005 Holiday Season on the AOL KOL Service for Kids
While KOL Poll Reveals Kids Most Want Money for the Holidays, the Toy Testers Selected High Tech Toys Like the FLY Pentop Computer and Classics Such as Tigger and Cabbage Patch Kids
DULLES, Va. -- Nov. 21, 2005 -- The AOL KOL Holiday Toy Testers have spoken and the FLY Pentop Computer by LeapFrog, Bratz Rock Angelz Toys by MGA and Leapster L-MAX Learning Game System also by LeapFrog are among the most popular toys this holiday season. KOL gave kids nationwide the opportunity to test toys, games and electronics in their homes and share their feedback and ratings online with the more than two million kids on the KOL service.
The list of the best-of-the best toys was voted on by more than 65 real kid testers across the country and will be posted on the KOL® service today along with a brief description and prices.
The official testing process began early this fall, when thousands of kids voted for their favorite toys in an online poll on the KOL service, narrowing the lists to ten toys for each age category. The top ten toys were then mailed to KOL Toy Testers for their feedback. The testers comprised of girls and boys from different states across the US, who played with the toys for weeks and rated them, to generate the official ranking.
"The KOL Holiday Toy Tester rankings stand apart from so many of the other lists that do not include input from real kids," said Malcolm Bird Senior Vice President and General Manager Kids and Teens. "We're always looking for ways to give kids a voice in determining what's hot and what's not."
According to a recent poll on the KOL service, which asked kids aged 7-12 what they want most this holiday season, money was the number one response (45%) followed by toys (21%) videogames (18%) and clothes (17%).*
So, what will the kids buy with all that cash? Today's tech-savvy kids are asking for high tech gifts like the new computer pen and video games. At the same time, the pre-school audience favors learning games and old classics including Cabbage Patch Kids, Tigger, and Care Bears. Below are the age-specific results:
