Autographed Napoleon Dynamite Talking Toys to be Auctioned Online to Aid Katrina Animal Victims
CLEARWATER, Fla., Nov. 22, 2005 -- Autographed by stars of the film Napoleon Dynamite, 50 of the talking toys popularized by the hit movie will be auctioned online to aid animals hurt by Hurricane Katrina.
Writer/director Jared Hess, along with the actors who played Pedro, Kip, Uncle Rico and Deb, have autographed 50 Napoleon Dynamite Talking Toys, which will be on sale for three weeks at http://www.funtalking.com (starting November 25).
"This is a dream come true for fans of the movie," said Jay Kamhi, president of Funtalking.com. "The only thing you can compare it to is John, Paul, George and Ringo collaborating on a project again."
Wearing a "Vote for Pedro" T-Shirt, moon boots and Walkman head-phones, this finely sculpted Napoleon doll says 18 different lines from the movie when you press his button. Although the 50 dolls being auctioned are signed collector's items, the doll is currently available in stores nationwide.
"The stars were incredibly generous with their time, and bent over backwards to make this auction a success," said Kamhi. "They were not only helpful but extremely fun to work with."
The money raised will be donated to Forte Animal Rescue (http://www.farescue.org), an ethical 501(c)(3) ALL-VOLUNTEER non-profit rescue group that is based in Los Angeles. They will distribute it to various animal welfare groups in areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
