First Look At Palisades' Space Channel 5 Action Figures
|
Strange aliens have landed on earth, and they're forcing the humans they encounter to...dance! Enter Ulala, the hip young reporter from Space Channel 5, who covers the events as they unfold and outdances the aliens to uncover the true villain behind this diabolical and dastardly plot. This is the premise behind Sega's hit Dreamcast game Space Channel 5, and in early 2001 Palisades Marketing will be launching action figures of some of the coolest characters. The first series, which is in the 3.75" to 4" scale, includes Ulala in her signature outfit, SpaceDancin' Ulala in her retro sci-fi spacesuit, rival reporter Pudding and the evil robotic duplicate of Ulala called Evila. Rounding out the assortment is a 2-pack of the alien Morolians and Chief Blank, program director of Space Channel 5 and mastermind behind the dancing invasion. "The game has a very cool fifties-style sci-fi look with hot chicks and wacky aliens", reports Mike Horn, president of Palisades. "The sculptors have really done an awesome job in capturing the designs based on that unusual style." Those sculptors are Matthew "Chief" Flesher who runs Big Chief Studios and also the folks at SOTA Sculpture and Design. You may be familiar with Chief's work as he sculpted some of the Speed Racer and Sonic figures from ReSaurus, although this is his first project for Palisades. SOTA recently sculpted the House of the Dead figures for Palisades. Both are continuing to develop more projects for the Baltimore based action figure and resin company. Look for Space Channel 5 action figures in stores in late February of next year, right after Toy Fair. In the meantime, check out this exclusive advanced look at the approved sculpts.
