INTERVIEW WITH COVERT

John Wong [Action-HQ.com] > Hey Alex, can you tell us something about yourself or your company?

Alex Lau [Covert] > I have always liked to design; wanted to try to do things I liked; and try to make something out of it. I therefore have my own company called Starwill where I create graphic design. And as always, I thought wouldn't it be great if I could bring my own designs and ideas to life, therefore I started a new company called Covert. My dream is to build this company as a place where all talents can join together under one roof to create the so called urban style design [products]. I feel an amazing satisfaction when I create a product from start till end.

John Wong [Action-HQ.com] > How did you get started in making designer toys?

Alex Lau [Covert] > I have always been a toy collector myself and have always wanted to design my own toy.

John Wong [Action-HQ.com] > Out of all the products that are in the market right now, yours is different; it's huge and lights up. Tell me what inspired you?

Alex Lau [Covert] >The idea behind the lights are because I wanted to show more facial expression; therefore I decided to have it light up. The lights helps to show the contrast on his face and highlights the angry expression.

John Wong [Action-HQ.com] > I notice that the jumpsuit in your figure has velvet-like flocking. That must have been hard. How was the production on that?

Alex Lau [Covert] > The production wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. There were lots of technical difficulties. For example, it was hard to make the material even all over and make it look realistic. Also the same for color and density of the flocking to create the texture.

John Wong [Action-HQ.com] > So what is the inside scoop on your next product or products?

Alex Lau [Covert] > Hopefully you will be going to see lots more of me. I am trying to put all my drawings to life and Wizeguy is only one of my labels. But right now I am still on the Wizeguy series... maybe the whole Wizeguy family, you'll see.
