The Zodiac Cartel was a group of super-villains whose members were styled after one of the 12 signs of the astrological zodiac. They made their 1st appearance in the pages of Avengers #72 from 1970.  Each member of the organization was born under the sign which he or she was named and operated independently from a different American city, though they would assemble whenever the need arises.  Though there was a policy of a rotating leadership, the true organizer and backer of the group was Taurus, aka Cornelius Van Lunt.
