PAWTUCKET, R.I.--Nov. 5, 2001-- Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS) announced today that it has donated a large assortment of toys and games, including some collectibles, to "Auction for America," eBay's online charity effort designed to help the families affected by the September 11, 2001 tragedy.

Beginning today, a range of Hasbro products will be available for bidding on eBay, including:

  • Autographed DESTINY CHILD'S DOLLS
  • Muhammad Ali Figures autographed by the famous boxer himself
  • Rare G.I. JOE comic books
  • G.I. JOE original animation cels
  • G.I. JOE Search and Rescue Firefighter
  • PLANET OF THE APES collector figures
  • Hard to find SUPER TOY TEDDY from Steven Spielberg's movie Artificial Intelligence (A.I.)

The items will be available through December 25, with proceeds from Hasbro products benefiting the September 11th Children's Fund, which was initially established by the Hasbro Children's Foundation, a philanthropic arm of Hasbro, with an initial gift of $250,000. The objective of the fund is to promote the long-term emotional, mental and physical health and well being of children and families affected by the September 11, 2001 tragedy.

"As a company, we have always placed a high value on supporting the needs of children. I am thrilled that we're able to participate in 'Auction for America' and that the proceeds will benefit the September 11th Children's Fund," said Alan Hassenfeld, Hasbro's Chairman and CEO.

"Our goal is to substantially increase the monies available through the September 11th Children's Fund," said Karen Davis, Director of Hasbro Charitable Trust. "The needs of the victims' children are tremendous and will continue to be for years to come. Our goal is to help those children effectively cope with the challenges the future will likely bring."

At the suggestion of New York Governor George Pataki and New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, eBay created "Auction for America" to benefit the victims, families and communities affected by September 11th. In addition to the September 11th Children's Fund, auction proceeds will benefit the September 11th Fund, Twin Towers Fund, The New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund and the American Red Cross.
