INGLEWOOD, Calif., LOS ANGELES and COMPTON, Calif., Dec. 10 -- The city is abuzz with anticipation as the holiday's most anticipated music event of the year galvanizes the community into a spirit of giving. Stevie Wonder's 6th Annual House Full of Toys Benefit Concert is set for Saturday, December 15, 2001 at the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood. The House Full of Toys line-up promises to light up the stage with some extremely exciting musical performances.
Urban music's hottest stars are joining with international music icon Stevie Wonder to raise toys for needy children this Christmas. Singer-songwriter extraordinaire Brian McKnight, mega-producer/songwriter Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, red-hot newcomers India.Arie and Musiq SoulChild, jazz impresario Boney James with Dave Hollister, R&B siren Regina Belle, gospel duo Pam and Dodi and singer, actor, model Tyrese. Vibe Magazine's best solo rap artist for 2001 JaRule will make a special appearance as well. The concert is the crowning jewel of a holiday-time campaign through which the station asks the community to donate toys and bring happiness to hundreds of Southland children who otherwise would not have a Merry Christmas. KJLH listeners, churches, community partners and business clients are coming together to help those in our community who are experiencing time of need.
KJLH believes that it can be a catalyst to galvanize the community to share, give and help one another, especially in the wake of September 11, rising unemployment due to recent layoffs in the workplace, and other unfortunate mishaps. Businesses and churches have responded by donating computers, toys and other items for children. KJLH continues to urge the business community to donate toys. Interested parties can drop off toys at the KJLH Lobby located at 161 North La Brea in Inglewood or at any of our drop off locations across the community. KJLH executives along with the station's popular on-air personalities will personally deliver the toys to needy families and children.
To assist with this magnificent community effort, KJLH has joined with some of its community "partners in giving" to make this the best Christmas ever for underprivileged children. Crenshaw Motors Ford, Burger King, American Urban Radio Networks, and Hammond Entertainment are just some of the partners that are working to get as many toys as possible. The station's air personalities are getting into the act as well, with a series of live broadcasts being planned at various locations around the community with the goal of getting as many toys as possible. Aundrae Russell kicks things off on Sunday afternoon at Roscoe's Long Beach with a live presentation of Spread the Word, the popular gospel show on KJLH. The station's exciting and popular Home Team: Cliff Winston and Janine Haydel will get toys from Roscoe's Pico.
