MONTREAL, Dec. 17 -- Grand Toys International, Inc. today announced that its Canadian subsidiary, Grand Toys Ltd., has a product line for distribution in Canada during this coming holiday season that is exciting, diversified and includes many of the year's most popular characters.
Action figures and accessories based on the New Line Cinema trilogy inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's legendary saga -- The Lord of the Rings -- were launched late in the third quarter and now enjoy full distribution. The first film in the trilogy -- The Fellowship of the Ring -- is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 19th, 2001.
Marvel's Spider-Man has long been among the most popular action figures available. The 2001 line-up from Grand includes both 5" and 10" reproductions, and feature special collector editions which come complete with a comic book, as well as styles which encompass water based action, a favorite play pattern with children.
Grand's range of stationery items based on the Warner Bros. Pictures recently released film -- "Harry Potter and the Philosophr's Stone" (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the U.S.) -- was launched during the back-to-school sales period, and includes pens, pencils, erasers, gel pens, pencil sharpeners and related study kits and gift sets -- all incorporating design elements which capture the unique, intricate detail of the story.
