Extreme Sports Get Small

techdeck_logo.jpg - 4370 BytesThe popularity of extreme sports keeps growing, while some of the sports themselves seem to be shrinking. Some of the popular items for this holiday season are the miniature skateboards, BMX bikes and accessories being produced by such companies as TechDeck and SpinMaster Toys. Not only do these toys appeal to the interests of millions of fans of extreme sports, but due to their small size they make great stocking stuffers, too!

tech_action.jpg - 4654 BytesTechDeck produces authentically detailed skateboards, down to the last detail of the real thing including extra wheels, tools for changing out wheels as well as boarding environments such as park benches and tables, and skate ramps.

The TechDeck product line proved to be immensely popular spawning the inevitable imitators, as well as cross-licensing product such as Pokemon-themed skateboards. Warner Bros. Studio Stores even carry their own mini-skateboards with Batman Beyond and Scooby Doo decos.

Flick Trix Finger Bikes are miniature die-cast replicas of real BMX Bikesfrom the best names in the industry. They include Mongoose, Redline, Hoffman,Diamond Back, Standard, DK and Huffy. With dozens of different frame designs to choose from, such as `Fuzz Extreme' by Mongoose, `ProLine' by Redline and `Dirty One-Thirty' by Hoffman, Flick Trix enthusiasts are collecting them all.

``As the Millennium approaches, it seems that we're all looking forsomething new, something that will allow us to set the trend for the next 2000years,'' says Anton Rabie, president of Spin Master. ``In sports, the trendseems to be about pushing things to the edge. Skis have given way toSnowboards, Rollerblades have become an acceptable mode of travel and waterskiing can now be referred to as Wakeboarding,'' adds Anton. In the last year, the X-Games and the Gravity Games emerged as new showcases for this growingsegment in sports. Nothing there attracted more attention than the grandfather of Extreme Sports, BMX Bike Riding.

So, if you're looking for some big-time extreme action in a small package look no further than these hot holiday items - if you can find them, that is!
