New Art Asylum KISS Love Gun Figures
|
Hot on the heels of the successful run of the 24-inch KISS figures recreating the Destroyer album cover, the Art Asylum has brought us yet another version of these massively cool figures: Love Gun! Each of the figures features a realistic cloth costume that represents the individual's costume during the popular Love Gun era. Lest you think these are merely redeco figures, each figure comes in its own original box complete with new artwork. As with the Destroyer figures, when you line the boxes up sideways, you get a composite of the band members in their Love Gun album cover poses. The difference this time is that the actual figures were used in the composite, done by renowned artist Brad Parker. You might remember Brad from his visually stunning work with the now defunct go figure magazine. Brad worked on many of the magazine's mini-movies that composited real toys into photo-realistic backgrounds. Brad has also completed work on the DC Comics Green Lantern collection entitled "Fear Itself" written by Ron Marz. Other original packaging artwork was created by Art Asylum regulars Caesar and Nelson Ascencio. These two artists are making quite a name for themselves in creating very original artwork that has been used in packaging, advertising and other creative projects flowing from the Art Asylum. Remember these names because you are sure to hear them again in the future. The 24-inch Love Gun figures also bring back the sound chip base. Each character's base plays a sound clip from the Love Gun album. The quality is really very good for a sound chip and the length of each clip is surprisingly long. These figures are exclusive to Spencer Gifts and should retail for approximately $149 each. The RTM Store has a very limited special edition of the Destroyer figures autographed by primary figure artists Digger and Paul Komoda. These rare limited edition autographed versions are sold in sets only and once they are gone, there will be no more. So check them out before you miss out! The Art Asylum has indicated that they are finished with the KISS figures with the release of the Love Gun set. The crew at the Asylum is preparing for some very cool new ventures and we'll be sure to keep you updated on all the happenings. [Updated 01/10/2000]
