Micronauts Variants

July 25, 2002 - Ellicott City, MD - Tooling is progressing well for Palisades' Micronauts Series 1 reproductions of the vintage Mego toys. The expected in store date is early Fall 2002, but we have revealed more details about additional features, color variations and special editions that have been added to the line.

Magno-Power figures Baron Karza and Andromeda will see new dynamic color variants, sure to please both Micronauts collectors and fans of the world-popular "Magnemo" toy design. Karza and his steed will be released in a large boxed set, with three different color variants per case of six sets. Three of the classic "vintage" color style will be included, but additionally two incredible "all transparent" sets with red or black details will be included, as will one "chase" color variant set cast in clear red plastic with black highlights. This will guarantee variety for retailers, and something special for every Micronauts collector!

Noted Science Fiction and Comic artist Dave Dorman has lent his talents to the line by providing dramatic new paintings of the series-1 characters. These original art pieces will be utilized on the packaging and in the clip-out "file cards." Dorman is an avid Micronauts fan, and jumped on the opportunity to work on the project. His Micronauts paintings are available for view at www.PalisadesToys.com.

Micronaut collectors assisting Palisades with the reproduction line have been pleased with the reproduction work seen so far, and the improvements and additional accessories included with each figure.

Space Glider now features a "space blaster", and the poor fitting helmet of the vintage toy is undergoing some improvement and will be made in more than the simple blue of the old figures. Time Traveler gets two new chest plate designs to add to the original four, designed by American Micronauts collector Dave Waugh. Acroyear's old short sword will be replaced by a wicked new long sword, and the "spy drone" will be color-coordinated with the figure. Alien Membros gets some new dressings - with two added hand-accessories, and the tube leading to his HydraLaser has been lengthened in contrast to the notoriously-short, breakable Mego version. All the small figures will include a base with two 5mm pegs. Each figure will be available in 4 different color variations.

Force Commander and Oberon - heroic counterparts to the evil Baron Karza and Andromeda - will be exclusives to the Palisades web store. Additionally, special-edition Micronauts figures are in production exclusively for various on-line stores, collectibles companies and collector clubs.

In response to collectors' requests, Palisades Toys has packed their cases of Micronauts Series-1 Baron Karza and Andromeda boxed sets with multiple TRANSPARENT color variations!

Each case of six Baron Karza/Andromeda sets will include three special edition sets cast in TRANSPARENT plastic, complimenting the classic-style Karza sets. Two variation sets will be CRYSTAL CLEAR with opaque red or black details, and will allow for FULL VIEW of the toys' intricate INNER MAGNETIC ARMATURE SYSTEM and spring-loaded SHOOTING MISSILE LAUNCHERS. A special "chase" version of the clear set will also be packed one per case, strikingly cast in TRANSPARENT BLOOD RED plastic with solid red details.

"Unlike so many clear-type special edition figures, there's actually something to SEE here," points out veteran Micronauts collector Ray "AcroRay" Miller. "Now we can look INSIDE to see the magno-power features and shooting weapons we all thought were so cool when we were kids! It'll be a great addition to collections that already have an old-style Karza and Andromeda."
