MINNEAPOLIS and WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 -- Target Stores and National Geographic today announced a new line of National Geographic educational and fun toys exclusively for Target. National Geographic combined its scientific expertise, world-renowned imagery and feedback from real-life explorers to create the new line aimed at providing inspiration for young scientists, explorers, and nature lovers ages 6 to 12.
Now available in Target stores nationwide, the new collection of 39 toys focuses on three categories: Animals & Nature, Geography & Exploration, and Space & Science and includes plush figures, activity sets, games, exploration gear and science kits.
Examples of the line include a giant, plush panda packaged with an entertaining, informative 30-minute video, a pyramid building kit which encourages children to think like an archaeologist as they construct their own creation, and a glowing chemistry kit which lets kids create their own glow-
in-the-dark paint, putty, slime and glow sticks. Products in the line range from $3.99 to $24.99.
"Target is committed to offering a great selection of innovative toys for our young guests," said Kathee Tesija, senior vice president merchandising, Target Stores. "National Geographic toys, with their focus on learning and exploring, are expected to be popular with our most imaginative shopping guests -- kids."
"National Geographic is dedicated to providing a distinct line of toys that both entertain and educate kids, sparking their imaginations to become archaeologists and zoologists," said Linda Berkeley, president of Enterprises for National Geographic.
"It has always been our objective to bring National Geographic's inspiration of adventure and exploration to a young audience, and our toy program at Target enables us to do so on a large scale," said John Dumbacher, senior vice president of Licensing for National Geographic.
