Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles and Eternal Toys have announced their latest releases. The Smiley the Psychotic Button cold cast replica and the Reaper miniature bust are the latest items to come from this powerhouse alliance between Diamond and Chaos! Comics. One of the most popular characters/pieces of apparel in the Chaos! Comics universe - Smiley the Psychotic Button - is now available to fans in this dimension as Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles and Eternal Toys offers a cold-cast porcelain replica of the deranged pin in the February issue of the Previews catalog. Notorious throughout the Chaos! Universe for being Evil Ernie's wise-cracking companion with a bad attitude, the highly detailed button - sculpted by Derek DeVoe - measures a life-size 2", ships on a blister card, and carries a retail price of $9.95. "It's not often that you can say you've made a product that is 100% exactly like the original," said Tom Stormonth, Executive Director of Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles, "but in the case of Smiley, that's precisely what we've done! Except for the fact that it doesn't talk or goad its wearers into a murderous rage, this button is just like the one Evil Ernie wears in the comic." The button is scheduled to ship in April. Chaos! Comics' personification of Death itself, the Reaper, has made his presence known in every corner of the Chaos! Cosmos. This month, Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles and Eternal Toys will bring the Undertaker of the Underworld to specialty retailers and their customers with the Chaos! Reaper Bust, offered in the February issue of the Previews catalog.
Produced by master sculptor Sam Greenwell, the 7"-tall bust - which comes painted and ready for display - features Death eerily staring out at its owner while holding his "sands-of-time" hourglass, awaiting the final moments of time to pass by. The bust comes in a custom box with a Certificate of Authenticity, and carries a retail price of $31.99. "For our second collectible miniature bust," explained Stormonth, "we wanted to choose an intimidating character to match the power and beauty of the Vandala Miniature Bust. And you won't find a much more intimidating character than the Reaper himself!" The Chaos! Reaper Bust is scheduled to ship to stores in April. [Updated 2-01-2000]
