Sideshow/Weta Retires Some LOTR

Westlake Village, CA August 2003 Sideshow / Weta Collectibles is the producer of the most authentic collectibles based on New Line Cinema's film trilogy, The Lord of the Rings.

In 2000, Sideshow Collectibles, a US based company which produces film, TV and historical collectibles, and Weta Workshop, the special effects facility responsible for bringing Middle-earth to life on film, joined to form Sideshow / Weta Collectibles.

Together, in this joint venture, Sideshow / Weta would do what no other company had done up until that time, which was to produce collectible products from a film with the artists that were actually responsible for sculpting and creating the very elements used in the original film property. This combination has brought the most accurate and authentic pieces possible to the collectors worldwide. Since the launch of the product line in 2000, Sideshow / Weta Collectibles has brought to market statues, busts, helms, miniature weapons and fine art pieces based on the film trilogy.

Sideshow / Weta Collectibles would like to announce that some of their pieces from The Fellowship of the Ring as well as The Two Towers line are being retired from manufacturing, thus will no longer be produced. Certain items may still be available for a short time, but it is anticipated that the stock will not last long.

"Our decision is to preserve the collectible value of the pieces that have been created by not overproducing them," explains Sideshow President, Greg Anzalone.
