MARCH 11, 2004, (Renton, Wash.) Wizards of the Coast, a developer and publisher of game-based entertainment products and a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc., announced today its collaboration with comic book publisher and licensee Devil's Due Publishing, to develop exclusive artwork for a trading card game based on America's first action figure-hero, G.I. JOE. The G.I. JOE™ Trading Card Game, which will feature 114 elaborately illustrated cards based on the extensive universe of the G.I. JOE vs. COBRA saga, is scheduled for release this fall, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the G.I. JOE brand.

Devil's Due, which is currently publishing and creating the G.I. JOE comic books, and its team of highly talented artists, will create all of the artwork for the G.I. JOE Trading Card Game.

"Devil's Due is highly regarded for their artwork and they possess a deep understanding of the world of G.I. JOE, making them an ideal choice for the trading card game," commented G.I. JOE trading card game brand manager, Scott Rouse.

"We're extremely pysched to be involved in bringing G.I. JOE into the world of trading card games," said Josh Blaylock, President, Devil's Due Publishing. "We've been publishing the comics for over two years, and expanding into this trading card game endeavor is a win win situation for everyone."

Wizards of the Coast will first release the G.I. JOE Trading Card Game as a two-player starter set and randomized booster packs. The trading card game will put the action of the "REAL AMERICAN HERO" into a range of cards inspired by the legendary G.I. JOE VS. COBRA storyline. Trading card game players will get to command their own G.I. JOE or COBRA team by building their decks with iconic characters such as DUKE, SNAKE EYES, AGENT SCARLETT, COBRA COMMANDER, DESTRO and STORM SHADOW. Expansion sets are planned for 2005.

Hasbro's G.I. JOE brand revolutionized the toy industry 40 years ago with the first poseable action figure for boys. Today, the G.I. JOE brand is popular among a new generation of kids who have rediscovered the action-packed excitement of the G.I. JOE VS. COBRA fantasy. For more information on the G.I. JOE brand, visit www.gijoe.com or www.hasbro.com.
