Toysrus.com To Expand On Both Coasts

 Toys R Us Inc.'s Internet business, Toysrus.com, said on Monday it is expanding the operation and expects to double the number of employees in the next year.New offices, scheduled to open by late summer, will be in New Jersey and the San Francisco Bay area, Toys R Us, the world's largest speciality toy retailer, said in a statement. A company spokeswoman said the online business has 300 employees, including its distribution centre in Memphis. The new hires will be in the New Jersey, which has total capacity for 240 people, and San Francisco Bay Area offices. The new positions are expected to be in several areas, including technical and business development. Several online retailers have had troubles lately with financing as investors sour on companies that are unable to show promise of near-term profit. In late May, Walt Disney Co.-owned Toysmart.com abruptly closed its doors and said it was going out of business after using up most of its cash. Shares of Toys R Us were last up 5/16 at 16-3/4.
