eBay Community Group Auctions Christmas Toy Shop Roombox on eBay to Benefit Red Cross Hurricane Relief Efforts

November 2004 - Members of the eBay Custom Doll House Miniatures community group recently donated their time and materials to build a Christmas Toy Shop roombox to auction on eBay. All proceeds from the auction were donated to the Red Cross in Vero Beach, Fla., to assist those affected by the recent hurricanes.

Using eBay's community board, the community group members were able to share photos and sketches online to plan and select the right pieces for the project. The finished collaboration, complete with elves and tiny toys, was posted on eBay on Nov. 5th, with an opening bid of $100. After receiving 36 bids within 10 days, the roombox sold for $810.

Members of Custom Doll House Miniatures, an eBay Group, have joined together to build this wonderful Christmas Toy Shop! Most of the magical pieces have been hand crafted by our member miniaturists who donated items in which they specialize. The contributing members, each an accomplished miniaturist in their own right, have created this wonder for your Christmas enjoyment through the spirit of giving to benefit this worthy cause.

Inspired by the 1961 Ideals Book Jolly Old Santa Claus, the Christmas Toy Shop roombox comes to life with hand sculpted Brownie elves who are whistling while they work making all the toys for the good boys and girls. A buzz is in the air, time is running short, and magic is all around from the miniature Cinderella puppet theater to the stuffing of teddy bears to the toys spilling out of Santa's big old bag. Santa Claus is making his list and checking it twice while gazing out the window at the winter wonderland. One of Santa's reindeer peeks in through the door. All the excitement is contagious inside this one-of-a-kind Christmas Toy Shop roombox.

None of the contents are glued in place! You will be able to arrange each and every handcrafted creation the way you want. The roombox is 18.5 in. long by 12 in. tall by 10.25 in. deep and completely finished inside and out. Made from natural oak finish with a Plexiglas front closure, which slides in from the top. The box has an electrified wheel light fixture with transformer included.
