Corgi USA Toy Fair 2005

December 2004 - For 2005, Corgi USA - the company responsible for some of the most prized die-cast collectibles ever produced - takes things to a whole new level, with an unprecedented line of authentic replicas.

Here's a sneak peek at what's going to be featured at the 2005 American Int'l Toy Fair:

Heroes Under Fire

Corgi's Heroes Under Fire line celebrates the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep us safe. Finely detailed, authentically rendered and loaded with amazing accessories, Heroes Under Fire is considered the most respected line of emergency vehicle replicas, with each new release eagerly awaited by a legion of fans.

For 2005, Heroes Under Fire focuses on the equipment that helps firefighters handle the most dangerous of situations - backcountry wildfires:

The Florida Division of Forestry Cobra Helicopter

It probably never occurred to the folks who rode them everyday, but the buses that have roamed the streets of America's cities over the past century represent some of this nation's most remarkable design work. Functional, yet each capturing a flair for its times, classic buses have become a favorite of collectors, thanks to Corgi's Vintage Bus Lines series.

For 2005, it's time to re-visit some of Gotham's finest. So let's hop the uptown to Columbus Circle and have a look at what's coming:

GM "Old Look" 4507 - Green Bus lines
GM Fishbowl -Green Bus Lines

Just the ticket for a trip to World's Fair in Flushing or a day at Coney Island, these Green Line buses were welcome sights in the outer boroughs, providing a pleasant alternative to the cramped subways. The Corgi replicas capture two stages in the Green Line evolution, with the "Old Look" (reminiscent of a streetcar) and the sleeker "Fishbowl" design of the 1960s. This uniquely decorated bus features the ultimate symbol of New York - Lady Liberty herself. Suggested retail price $49.99. For ages 14 & up.

Aviation Archive

In 2005, Corgi's mission to chart the complete history of military aviation, and preserve it through the creation of highly authentic, detailed die-cast replicas continues in a big way. Aviation Archive welcomes a host of new replicas and a new line that puts a human face on the glory of flight - the Flight Line Collection.

Two of the finest aircraft of World War II receive all-new tooling in 1:72 scale. The giant replicas capture all the details and authentic markings of these iconic aircraft. The Flight Line Series

It's great to remember the aircraft that made aviation history, but what about the men who laid it all on the line to fly and maintain these classic planes? In 2005, Corgi commemorates the bravery and commitment of the ace pilots and ground crew who served their countries during WWII. The Flight Line Series presents 1:32 scale replicas that show the human side of flight, realistically posed, finely detailed and garbed in only the most authentic uniforms.

The first series features: Flight Sergeant George "Grumpy" Unwin and his Spitfire Mk IA; Captain Clarence "Bud" Anderson and his P51D Mustang; and Gerhard Barkhorn and his Messerschmitt Bf109G-6 Hauptmann.

Suggested retail price: $99.99. For ages 14 & up.

Nose Art Collection

When America's World War II fly boys took to the skies over Europe and the Pacific, they didn't travel alone. They were accompanied by the images of movie stars, pinup queens, cartoon characters and the girls they left behind. Colorful and skillfully rendered, these paintings - known as "Nose Art" because of their typical placement near the nose of the aircraft -- brought a personal touch to some of the greatest aircraft of the era.

Now, Corgi USA remembers this unique artwork with an all-new 1:72 scale Aviation Archive replicas featuring legendary nose art. The artwork appears not only on the plane replica, but also on a larger scale cut-out section of the fuselage, which can be displayed on a stand-alone base along with the model aircraft.
