Toy Vault has released new images of it's upcoming Farscape line of action figures, based on the Sci-Fi Channel original series.

The series, currently in it's second season, has been steadily gaining in popularity since it's debut and has been renewed for a third season.

Toy Vault has pulled out all the stops on these figures, sculpting wise. Careful attention to every detail has resulted in some amazing looking figures.

"We've promoted the new line at several major toy and sci-fi conventions so far this year, and the fans are just crazy about this show," said Lawrence Jones, sales manager for Toy Vault. "It's rare to find a television series with the combination of intelligent scripting and feature film quality special effects that one sees on Farscape."

Toy Vault's first wave of Farscape action figures is due for a fall 2000 release and will feature four of the show's most popular characters:

  • Zhaan (image not available at press time), the blue-skinned Delvian priestess, will have cloth garments adn feature six-points of articulation. Her accessories include a sleep mist bottle, a small facemask, and a two-headed bird creature.
  • Chricton, the show's only human character and main protagonist, will have sculpted clothing and six points of articulation. His accessories will include a helmet, a big gun with strap, sand goggles and audio and telescopic headsets. The figure may include the cloth jacket shown below.
  • Chiana, the alluring Nebari rebel, who joined the cast towards the end of season 1, will have sculpted clothing, six points of articulation and accessories including a gun, handcuffs, neckcuffs and a bladed weapon.
  • D'Argo, the Luxan warrior, wears are red sculpted outfit with sword and belt. His accessories will include a dagger, a sandmask, a black facemask and a Tokaar bone knife.

All of the figures will be sized on a scale of six feet to seven inches, and come in regular and special editions.

Toy Vault will also create two additional Farscape products for release this year; "Aeryn Mutation", and exclusive action figure for Fandom.com, and a cold cast resin statue of D'Argo.

"I'd like to think of our relationship with Fandom.com on this project as a collaboration," said Jon Huston, Creative Director for Toy Vault. "Unlike the previous exclusives we've done for both specialty and mass-market retailers, which consisted of issuing a new paint scheme and different accessories, Aeryn Mutation is the first time with have produced a completely new sculpt specifically for one outlet."

Raven Hood, who previously created Toy Vault's Confessor figure from the Astro City line, sculpted Aeryn Mutation. It will feature four points of articulation. "In my opinion, Raven Hood is one of the best sculptors currently working in the toy industry," said Huston. "Not only has he captured the likeness of actress Claudia Black, who plays the character, but the facial expression and pose of the figure beautifully convey the mounting sense of terror felt by Aeryn as she begins to transform. I just can't see how anyone could have done a better job."
