Kellogg Recalls 837,000 NASCAR Toys in Cereal
|
Cereal giant Kellogg Co. is recalling 837,000 ``Hot Wheels'' toy cars packed inside some Fruit Loops and other cereal boxes because the tires can detach, posing a choking hazard, U.S. officials said Thursday.Consumers should immediately take the cars away from young children, and send them to Kellogg to get a free replacement item and reimbursement for postage, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement announcing the recall. The agency said Kellogg had received two reports of the tires detaching from the wheels of the red and yellow NASCAR ''Pull'n Go Hot Wheels'' toy cars, which carried the word ''Kellogg's'' on their white hoods. There were no reports of any injuries, it said. Various clubs and a few grocery stores nationwide sold these cars in specially marked packages of the company's Tri-Fun-Pak 40-ounce box, Fruit Loops 43.6-ounce box, Mini-Whites Frosted Bite Size 58.8-ounce box, and Crispix 31.4-ounce box. These specially marked boxes of cereal were sold from March through June. No other Kellogg's ``Pull'n Go'' or ``Hot Wheels'' are part of the recall, it said. Consumers should return the cars to Kellogg Company, P.O. Box 185654, Battle Creek, Michigan 49018-5654.
