 Playmates Toys delivers another first in the world of technology and toys with new Dot Pals the ultimate desktop sidekick. Using popular characters from beloved movies and television shows like The Simpsons, Playmates brings these famed characters to life for interactive desktop fun. Each animatronic character sits next to a personal computer and responds to various tasks performed on the computer with phrases that are true to character. With a click of the mouse, the characters are continually prompted by ordinary commands on your operating system, from opening a file, to spellcheck, to reading your e-mail.Each Dot Pal comes complete with a CD-ROM for easy installation with either Windows 98 or Mac OS. The Dot Pal character plugs directly into your USB (Universal Serial Bus) port, and is equipped as a plug-and-play, for instant interaction. Dot Pals know the date and time, and can remember personal information users have fed into the desktop calendar, including special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries. As you work on your computer, commands trigger appropriate responses as frequently as you choose. For instance, a Homer Simpson Dot Pal might respond to a spelling error by saying, "D�oh!" or get excited when he sees mail in your in-box with a familiar "Woo-hoo"! Web surfers will now have a companion as Dot Pals also navigate along with them. Dot Pals can interact with special Dot Pal enabled web pages that could potentially be found via Playmates web site or through the licensee web site (e.g., Fox). On these web pages, Dot Pals will have the capability to stream and download content for future interaction, providing them with a constantly growing vocabulary. Depending on the licensed character, Dot Pals can be tailored to audiences of all ages. This winter Playmates Toys will be releasing Dot Pals based on Homer Simpson, for an estimated retail price of $49.99 - $59.99.
