Disney Consumer Products Gets New Senior VP

Tim Kilpin has joined Disney Consumer Products as senior vice president, toys, it was announced today by Andrew Mooney, president of Disney Consumer Products. Kilpin will lead the worldwide Toys category and pursue business growth through consumer-segment and retail-channel management and new product development. He will also work with the Walt Disney International organization to develop product strategies for global markets outside the U.S. ``Tim brings with him a comprehensive perspective of the worldwide toy industry,'' Mooney said. ``With his creative vision and leadership experience, we are certain Tim can play a crucial role in the development of the Disney Toys business that offers enormous potential for growth.'' Kilpin joins Disney after 12 years at Mattel Inc., most recently as general manager and executive vice president of the character brands business unit. In this role, Kilpin oversaw management of the worldwide business and was responsible for marketing, brand management, design, development and packaging for all Disney, Sesame Street, Blue's Clues and Cabbage Patch Kids toys produced by Mattel. While at Mattel, he also oversaw the Hot Wheels, games and boys toys businesses. Kilpin has also worked for Tonka Toys as director of marketing and TSR Hobbies as an editor, where he oversaw development of the popular Dungeons & Dragons games. Kilpin graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1982, where he earned a bachelor's degree with an emphasis on radio, television and film. [Posted 11/06/2000]
