As the Justice League Unlimited line morphs into DC Animated, fan
speculation runs high as to which characters will be included in this new
"collector-friendly" action figure series. The images of the New Gods
six-pack only intensified the interest, and now, Mattel follows up with...
repaints.
But don't worry -- these repaints actually make sense, and are joined by a
number of new figures! The next six-pack, entitled "Second Chances," is
comprised of color-accurate repaints (finally!) of Martian Manhunter,
Booster Gold and Red Tornado, along with three brand new sculpts of
previously released figures Black Canary, Green Arrow and the elusive
Hawkman! According to the Mattel rep: "We realize that many people were not
satisfied with our initial conceptions of these characters, and we wanted to
emphasize our commitment to the collectors by taking a second chance to make
a first impression, as it were." No arguments here!
This wave will also include an army-builder three pack consisting of two
Thanagarian soldiers (as seen in the "Starcrossed" movie) packed along with
a to-be-determined Justice League member, single releases of villains Dr.
Polaris and Psycho-Pirate, and a blast from the past, Maxie Zeus (as seen in
the Batman Animated Series episode "Fires of Olympus)! Rounding out this
assortment is the mind-boggling inclusion of Mikaal Tomas, the blue-skinned
Starman from the 1970's. Why such an obscure character? Says the rep: "To
prove that no DC character, no matter how minor, is out of bounds now...
except Lobo... and Hal Jordan."
