Hasbro Moving To Move Purchasing To Internet

hasbro_intelisys.gif - 4416 BytesGlobal business-to-business e-commerce leader Intelisys Electronic Commerce, Inc. said today it will help Hasbro, Inc., one of the world's leading makers of games, toys and other family entertainment, cut costs and dramatically shorten procurement cycles by moving its purchasing to the Internet. The companies have signed a non-binding letter of intent that will enable Hasbro to manage its suppliers using IEC-Enterprise, Intelisys' Internet-based purchasing application for large corporate buyers and public sector entities.

Hasbro, a major content provider with brands that include Monopoly, Furby, Pokemon and many other of the world's most popular toys and games, expects to slash its purchasing administration costs with Intelisys. IEC-Enterprise will open Hasbro's online purchasing to all of its suppliers and link Hasbro employees via the Web directly to supplier catalogs. Because it enables suppliers to update their online catalogs with real-time pricing and inventory information, IEC-Enterprise cuts down on costly errors, shrinks companies' purchasing cycles from weeks to minutes, reduces administrative overhead and frees managers from paper pushing.

Hasbro expects its online purchasing network to process more than $100 million annually once fully implemented. Ultimately, Hasbro expects to bring all suppliers into the online purchasing network and make Intelisys' service available to employees company-wide.

Scott Dever, Vice President, Global Procurement, Hasbro, said: ``Intelisys offers us the ability to enable our suppliers to join us on the Web. Intelisys will help us replace the paper exchange with a far more efficient, streamlined process for cutting time and costs out of the procurement process. We also have been promised an easy-to-use application, with a clear, concise and uncluttered interface. We look forward to implementing it rapidly throughout our company.''

Lloyd O'Connor, Chief Executive Officer of Intelisys, said: ``We welcome Hasbro as a customer and look forward to helping their entire company and their suppliers take full advantage of Intelisys' online commerce solutions to cut costs, paper and hassle from the purchasing process. We greatly appreciate Hasbro's enthusiasm for our IEC-Enterprise application, which more and more large corporate buyers are giving rave reviews for helping them use the Web as a venue for handling suppliers and improving the way they do business.''

IEC-Enterprise will automate all purchasing-related workflow, including purchase orders, fulfillment, delivery and payment, giving Hasbro a consolidated look at both its enterprise-wide procurement picture and spending with individual suppliers.

IEC-Enterprise will use the open standards of the Internet to rapidly enable Hasbro's suppliers and maximize their existing e-commerce investment. Suppliers with existing e-commerce catalogs will be able to connect electronically with Hasbro using Intelisys' supplier-enablement tools - IEC-CatalogLink and IEC-OrderLink. These tools allow suppliers to sell their products and services to any buyer using Intelisys' procurement applications or any other open standards application. Hasbro suppliers new to the Internet will be able to take advantage of Intelisys' catalog set-up tools and IEC-SupplyNet, a hosted catalog service sponsored by Intelisys, to connect with Hasbro and other IEC-Enterprise customers electronically.

Intelisys is distinguished by its patented Supplier Managed Content process, which lets suppliers develop, maintain and control their online catalogs. This relieves companies of the expense and management burdens associated with hosting redundant supplier catalogs and allows suppliers to maximize their current e-commerce investment and dramatically reduce administrative costs.
